GENERAL CONCERNS AND QUESTIONS
1. I’ve never done this before. Where do I start?
With a simple phone call. We will set up an appointment, at the potential project site or in our office. There is no fee for the initial consultation.
2. What do I need for the first meeting?
Your ideas, goals, and budget are a great place start!
3. I’ve had my initial consultation, now what?
Loudin Building Systems will define the scope of the work as discussed and create a quote based on the discussions. Typically, you should receive the quote 1 1/2 weeks after the initial consultation.
4. How does Loudin Building Systems know what to quote without having a complete design plan?
We will assess the project as presented in discussion, and advise you regarding the process you will use toward attaining your goals.
5. What if we want to make changes to the proposal?
The proposal is only the beginning. It is expected that improvements/changes will be made throughout the planning and
construction process. These changes are addressed by addenda to the contract. Minor changes may require no addendum, while major
changes may require substantial changes to the projected budget.
6. Do I need architectural plans?
It depends on the scope of work on your project. Most construction jobs need architect’s plans. We are happy to work with any architect you choose.
We can also help in guiding you to an architect if need be.
7. What are your payment terms?
Typically this is discussed when the contract is awarded to Loudin Building Systems; seeing that every project is different.
8. Who is responsible for permit applications and fees?
Loudin Building Systems will complete the forms and apply for permits. Once permits are approved, the homeowner will pay the permit fees in their municipalities. Loudin Building Systems will coordinate all inspections.
9. How long before work can start?
After plans are conceived, and permits have been issued, work can usually begin within two weeks.
10. How long will my job take?
Probably the most common question we encounter. Each job is different, so broad generalities are difficult. As an example a window replacement
may take as little as 1 day, while a whole house addition may take 3-6 months to complete. Loudin Building Systems will give you a projected start date,
as well as a projected completion date for your project, based upon the scope of the work required.
11. What does Loudin Building Systems NOT provide?
Headaches. Or interior decoration. However, when we leave your property, the
exterior will be cleaned The interior will be broom cleaned, ready for
12. Who will supervise my job?
Depending on the scope of the project, there are a number of Loudin Building Systems supervisory personnel that may be assigned to your whole job,
or just different portions of it. All supervisors will be introduced to you as they become involved with your project.
13. What if I have a problem, concern or a question during the project?
Loudin Building Systems has a knowledgeable in-office staff that can resolve any questions, or concerns you may have. They can be reached weekdays from 8:00 AM thru 5:00 PM.
After hour contact numbers can also be provided during the construction process. Our Project Managers are happy to provide cell phone or
pager numbers where they can be reached at any time of day or night in case of emergency.
14. Does Loudin Building Systems use subcontractors?
Loudin Building Systems personnel have expertise in many of the trades required for completion of your job. However, for larger jobs,
(e.g. Additions), portions of the work will be subcontracted (e.g. Electrical and Plumbing) for speed and efficiency. All coordination of the subcontractors
will be handled by Loudin Building Systems.
15. What if I want to use my own subcontractors?
Loudin Building Systems will endeavor to support a client’s request regarding subcontractors, with the understanding that a particular
subcontractor chosen by the customer may not have a working relationship with Loudin Building Systems. This may cause delays if the chosen
subcontractor’s other work interferes with the scheduling originally outlined in the proposal.
16. How is clean-up and removal of construction debris handled?
Clean-ups are made on a regular basis by Loudin Building Systems employees with Loudin Building Systems trucks. Construction debris is removed from the job site as soon as possible.
17. What types of people will be working on our project?
All of the individuals employed by Loudin Building Systems are construction professionals. If you should encounter a problem with one of our employees,
we’ll be happy to address it as soon as you let us know about it. We ask the courtesy of you letting Loudin Building Systems address your concerns
so that we may keep your project running on a timely schedule.
18. What happens if I take a vacation during the construction process?
In many cases, phases of the job can be scheduled around your vacation, with the understanding that the completion date may be affected.
19. After my project is complete, if I have a question, or a problem is Loudin Building Systems available to me?
ABSOLUTELY! At Loudin Building Systems, we are dedicated to our customers before, during, and AFTER their projects. We will do our best to help
you through any concern you may have. Simply stated, we GUARANTEE our work for one year after completion of the project.
